It is NOT necessary to: have American relatives, give up present citizenship, be wealthy or have a certain amount of money, have a job offer, or be able to speak or write English. It is necessary to qualify as an immigrant showing: You are capable of supporting yourself, you are not likely to become a public charge, you are free from contagious disease, and you are not a criminal, mentally disturbed, or a threat to the national interest of the United States. All applications received by November 4th have been entered in the lottery. We should have all results of the DV-2005 by July 2003. We are currently processing applications for the DV-2005. You can send in your application now and we will enter you in the next lottery. If you have applied for the previous lottery but were not selected, we encourage you to apply again. Entries not received in time for the DV-2005 will be disqualified. Depending on your local mail carrier, your application could take as long as 4 weeks to be received by our offices. Note: Each applicant must complete and sign a separate application, and attach the required 2 photos. A married couple would therefore send one payment, two completed and signed applications, (one for the husband, one for the wife). Upon receiving your application, we will issue your Membership Card with an applicant number. Once your application has been submitted to the Diversity Visa Lottery you will receive a letter with your new confirmation number.
